At first glance, hardly noteworthy: two middle-aged men sitting on an oversized sofa, addressing a London conference on world affairs.

Only this particular cast of gentlemen was unusual: it consisted of Mr William Burns, the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and Mr Richard Moore, the chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service, or MI6 as it is better known, of James Bond fame. And as odd as it may seem, this was the first time when the heads of the two organisations spoke together in public.
