A new law is in the works to help individuals traumatised by cyber bullying or those whose intimate images or videos are being shared online.
It will involve empowering an e-safety commissioner to act decisively in such cases. Tech platforms, for example, could be ordered to take down the traumatising content within a specified timeframe. The e-safety commissioner could also prohibit perpetrators from continuing to share the voyeuristic recordings. A breach of the orders could lead to a fine or jail sentence.
