As a highly urbanised city-state, Singapore says it is not able to set aside 30 per cent of its land, inland waterways or coastal and marine areas for conservation.
But it is taking a range of measures to boost greenery, connectivity to nature areas and the abundance of plants and animals, or biodiversity, on the island.
