Of the three live matches I have watched Singapore play in this year’s edition of the biennial ASEAN Championship, three scenes have stayed with me.
First, the semi-final second leg at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on Aug 18, where the Lions tried valiantly but failed to mount a comeback for the ages against Thailand after losing 3-1 at home. My friend V, a Bangkok-based, non-Singaporean expatriate, had joined me in the away stand along with two others just for the jollies.
