“When I tell people I’m Korean, I can see their eyes light up and they would become more interested in me and talk to me about Korea and K-pop,” said my 13-year-old, whose father is Korean.

“Even the grumpy coffee shop uncle was nicer after I told him my Chinese is not good because I’m Korean.”
