SINGAPORE – Less than a month after seven new stations in eastern Singapore opened to the public in late June, the fanfare over the latest expansion of the MRT network here hit a sour note.

A new bus stop opposite Parkway Parade mall in Marine Parade that was built in tandem with the fourth stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) drew flak for its design, having pillars that made it hard for seated commuters to see approaching buses, and confusing bus bays.
