How many conferences I must have sat through in the early 2010s with gritted teeth, listening to grizzled pundits moan about the fecklessness of my generation – the avocado-toast gorging, not-saving-for-a-home, travel-too-much strawberry millennials who think only about themselves.

If only we would knuckle down and find the resilience that older generations had to be successful, they would say, inviting guffaws and applause in agreement.
