Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg announced last week that the company is dialling back content moderation on its platforms.
Facebook, Instagram and Threads will abandon fact-checking operations and most restrictions on offensive speech and adopt the community-based model at X (formerly Twitter), Mr Elon Musk’s rival platform. In a lengthy interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, Mr Zuckerberg claimed that the approach, which relies on users voting to label problematic content as it continues circulating, better protects free speech.
