When I faced the prospect of returning to work after my maternity leave, one of the many tasks was finding infant care for my seven-month-old son.

At that time – back in 2007 – infant-care options were not as abundant as they are today, but I still managed to visit five infant childcare centres. As I went from one to another, I asked myself: “What should I be looking for?”
