Travel days with two elderly parents and a toddler are considered pretty much a write-off. When we landed in Kunming and checked into our hotel, all I wanted to do was put my luggage down, sit on the couch, and exhale.
I walked into our room to a pleasant surprise – a Lego table laid out for my four-year-old, a playtent complete with a soft rug, and an extra bed with a blanket covered in ducks. She squealed in delight, ran towards the toys, and I had 20 minutes of peace to unpack.
