I know my children love me. They slip handwritten notes into my phone case
Having children has been a wonderful blessing.

Joy comes when you least expect it – such as when a handwritten message appears on the back of your phone.

When I am about to take a wefie with friends or colleagues, a passer-by will sometimes offer to take the photo for us with my phone. As they do so, they may then notice the words, “Best Dad!” scrawled on a scrap of paper stuck to the back of the phone, along with an accompanying note that reads: “not oppiste day!”
These messages are from my son, who made a game out of sticking “Best Dad!” and “Worst Dad!” on my phone, depending on his prevailing disposition towards me – which could vary by the minute. “Oppiste day” meant that “best” should be interpreted as “worst”, and vice versa. (When he wrote those notes over a year ago, he hadn’t yet learnt how to spell “opposite”.)
