Earlier in 2024, Elmo (yes, the beloved Sesame Street character) – or his social media manager – sent this post out into the void on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter:
“Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?”
I’m not sure Elmo expected more than 20,000 replies, 61,000 retweets and 165,000 likes and counting, what more a flurry of honest replies such as:
“Elmo, I’m gonna be real with you, I don’t think I can keep living like this. I feel like Oscar the Grouch in a world of Elmo’s.”
