In Singapore for a few days recently, my wife and I, who are from Australia, happened across Wild Rice theatre’s new pantomime, The Emperor’s New Clothes.
The performance was a joy. The acting, singing and dancing were all top class, and a large group of children performed enthusiastically. The original musical score by Julian Wong was very engaging and the costumes were simply outstanding.
Like all pantomimes, the play touches upon contemporary issues in a light-hearted but meaningful way. If this is any indication, local theatre in Singapore is of an incredibly high standard and deserves great support.
