When SkillsFuture Credit was introduced in 2015, many Singaporeans were excited over what courses were available – either for career transition or to gain knowledge and skills.

When I was retrenched, the search for an appropriate SkillsFuture course was disappointing.

Those I wanted were either not funded, or I had to pay a lot even after the funding.

I came across other online course providers such as Udemy which were excellent, and which I subscribed to.

I did a search on similar courses and found that a simple local AI course would set me back more than $300 whereas an Udemy course that is more detailed and comes with reference material and support costs $28.

Over these years, I have gained tremendous knowledge and skills via Udemy and my entire expenses didn’t come even close to the out-of-pocket fees of a SkillsFuture course.
