Forum: Tackle scourge of advertising clutter in HDB estates

As of April 1, several property agencies have pledged to stop stuffing fliers in between HDB gate grilles – a move that many residents welcome. These fliers tend to land up in corridors and add to the town council's cleaning costs.
But flier clutter is only part of the problem. Residents are familiar with another common sight – small advertisements pasted on doorbell buttons, lift lobby walls and even along corridors. These ads promote services such as tuition, moving, moneylending, locksmith tasks and plumbing.
Many are stuck onto surfaces using strong adhesives, and when removed they leave behind stubborn glue marks. This makes cleaning difficult and spoils the appearance of shared spaces.
Clearing up these stickers and fliers costs money, eventually paid by residents through maintenance fees. Shouldn’t the advertisers share in these cleaning costs too?
