“Complacency on the roads is putting everyone at risk”

(Feb 5) for highlighting an issue that the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) is deeply concerned about.

Beyond infrastructure and enforcement, road safety ultimately depends on the mindset and attitudes of all road users. Changing behaviour requires sustained education and community involvement, and this has been a key focus of SRSC’s work over the years.

We place strong emphasis on starting young. Through school-based programmes and interactive initiatives such as the Singapore Traffic Games, children are taught safe road habits early so that responsibility and consideration become second nature as they grow.

For the wider community, our annual Singapore Road Safety Month and targeted public campaigns aim to remind all road users that every decision on the road can have serious consequences.

Road safety is a shared responsibility. SRSC will continue to work with our partners to promote a culture of care and graciousness on the roads, and we encourage all road users to play their part in keeping Singapore’s roads safe for everyone.
