We refer to Forum writer Teh Choon Yen’s letter on the maintenance of Tanah Merah Coast Road and the common sight of trucks parked in the cycling lanes ( Tanah Merah Coast Road still unsafe for cyclists amid ongoing construction work
Since 2025, LTA has stepped up enforcement against overloading and illegal parking in the area, and issued fines to vehicles caught by our enforcement unit.
We have also engaged stakeholders around Tanah Merah Coast Road to help deter drivers from parking illegally along the road. Clear signs have also been installed to remind drivers against waiting or parking on the cycling lane.
LTA will continue to look into additional measures to enhance safety in the area, even as we work with relevant agencies to ensure that daily road and path cleaning operations are also carried out.
We would also like to remind all that road safety is a shared responsibility. Motorists must park responsibly to prevent obstructing or endangering other road users. First-time offenders caught parking a heavy vehicle on a road marked with unbroken double yellow lines will face a fine of $100.
Members of the public can report illegal parking via the Municipal Service Office OneService App.
