Forum: Reduce ambient heat in North-South and East-West MRT lines

I am concerned about commuter comfort on the North-South and East-West MRT lines. As these lines operate largely on open tracks, the trains are frequently exposed to direct sunlight.
During the late morning and afternoon hours, sunlight streams through the windows, heating the cabin and making it uncomfortable for passengers, particularly those seated near the windows.
The strong glare and heat reduce the effectiveness of the air-conditioning system, resulting in warmer cabin temperatures and an unpleasant travel experience.
Beyond discomfort, this may also lead to higher energy use as the cooling systems have to work harder.
I urge the transport authorities and relevant operators to consider measures such as installing UV-protective film, solar-tinted windows or adjustable blinds to mitigate the effects of heat and glare.
As Singapore continues its efforts to enhance public transport reliability and comfort, attention should also be given to improving the experience on our older lines. A modest investment in heat- and UV-protection would greatly benefit thousands of daily commuters.
