Forum: Non-smokers deprived of a vantage point at Mount Faber

Mount Faber Park, with its altitude and greenery, is regarded as an oxygen lung in the southern part of our island.

Rightfully, along with all other recreational parks, it is designated as a non-smoking area. Along the entire road of Mount Faber Loop, many signs are posted to remind all visitors of the restriction on smoking.

But at one location beside the pavement and near the summit, there is a spot designated as a smoker’s corner.

At this vantage point overlooking the Southern Waterfront, smokers have deprived other users of the fresh air and smoke-free ambience the park confers.

I hope that the National Parks Board will review the need for a smoking area in this smoke-free park and, if still necessary, move it to a more remote location with less foot traffic.
