I am writing to express my appreciation for the SkillsFuture Credit initiative, which has significantly empowered Singaporeans to pursue lifelong learning and enhance their skills. This programme reflects the Government’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous self-improvement and adaptability in our rapidly evolving economy.
However, as a mid-career professional, I hope we can expand the current range of courses that are eligible for SkillsFuture Credit claims.
For instance, language courses cultivate cultural understanding and cognitive development – essential in a globalised world. Similarly, courses in arts and creativity, such as photography or drawing, offer avenues for self-expression and potential entrepreneurial pursuits.
Expanding the scope of eligible courses to include diverse areas would cater to the interests of mid-career professionals and seniors. It will not only meet the diverse needs of learners but also reinforce the Government’s intent to create a robust and inclusive learning ecosystem.
The true value of the initiative can only be realised if individuals are granted the flexibility to utilise this subsidy to chase their dreams and explore new interests.
