A recent video posted online shows a young man on a North-East Line MRT train who didn’t hesitate to help a fellow commuter who had fallen sick and vomited.
Amid the New Year festivities, when most of us were out celebrating, one quiet act of kindness reminded us of what truly holds our society together.
This young man was seen on the train cleaning up a stranger’s vomit: an unpleasant, thankless task that he could easily have walked away from but didn’t. He instead chose to help, sparing fellow commuters discomfort and showing care for someone he did not know.
In a time focused on celebrations, this truly selfless act reminds us that kindness is still at work in the background, keeping our shared spaces more gracious and pleasant for everyone.
We would like to thank the member of public who shared this positive story and honour the young man whose selfless response turned an awkward situation into a moment of grace. It is my hope that by sharing more of such stories, these quiet role models who put others before self can inspire others to do the same.
A kinder you and me make for a stronger community.
