We refer to the letter, “

Promote eateries that offer a good children’s menu

” (Feb 4), and thank the writer, Mr Lee Ming Shu, for sharing his positive experience with the healthier children’s meal at a restaurant that participates in our Healthier Dining Programme (HDP).

We are encouraged to hear that such options supported his family’s efforts to make healthier choices when dining out.

Under HDP, the Health Promotion Board (HPB) works with food and beverage operators to increase healthier menu options that meet our nutritional requirements. Some of these operators have also received endorsement for healthier children’s meals.

Parents and consumers can find participating eateries at

go.gov.sg/hdp-partners

These eateries also display healthier choice identifiers at storefronts or on menus, making it easier for families to spot healthier options that are lower in calories, sodium and sugar, and use healthier ingredients.

With more consumers like Mr Lee seeking healthier dining options, we strongly encourage more operators to join our HDP and offer healthier choices across menus for both adults and children.

This ensures that families can choose healthier dishes when dining out together.

To encourage more families to choose healthier dining options, we run regular activities through the Eat, Drink, Shop Healthy Challenge on our Healthy 365 mobile app. Consumers can earn Healthpoints redeemable for vouchers when they purchase healthier meals at participating eateries.

Consumers can also share their feedback with eateries about healthier choices they would like to have, to motivate more establishments to introduce such options.

These collective efforts will shape a food environment where healthier meals become the norm.

We thank all Singaporeans for their continued support in building healthier eating habits for themselves and their families.
