Moving from Taiwan to Singapore in Primary 5 was a challenge. English was not my first language, and I had to transition from traditional to simplified Chinese writing.

Many classmates attended tuition, making me wonder if it was necessary. Instead of following the norm, I used artificial intelligence (AI) and school resources to improve myself.

AI helped me check essays, practise oral reading and explain difficult questions. AI also let me attempt PSLE-style questions, increasing my confidence. However, I knew AI was not always accurate, so I verified its suggestions and consulted my teachers when unsure.

Beyond AI, I also used the Student Learning Space and eZhishi. These tools, together with my teachers’ support, provided a structured way to learn without tuition. While AI enhanced my learning, my teachers remained my greatest mentors.

With efficient learning, I had time for basketball. By the year end, I was the top student in my cohort. This experience proved that by maximising AI and school resources, students can learn smarter, without tuition.
