We refer to Madam Eileen Goh Gek Tin’s letter “ Forced to sell flat and need help to get another
We empathise with Madam Goh’s circumstances and have been working with her on her various housing requests. For example, we were prepared to consider her appeal to participate in the Lease Buyback Scheme even though she does not meet the eligibility age requirements. However, she decided to sell her flat on the open market, and she received refunds to her CPF accounts and cash proceeds.
Between October 2024 and February 2026, Madam Goh applied for a two-room flexi flat in various Build-To-Order (BTO) and Sale of Balance Flats exercises but was unsuccessful. She had applied for flats in popular locations such as Kallang Whampoa and Geylang.
To increase her chances of securing a flat, Madam Goh could consider applying for two-room flexi flats in BTO projects with lower application rates. For example, in the BTO exercise in February, there were two-room flexi flats in Sembawang and Toa Payoh with much lower application rates, which would give her a significantly higher chance of booking a flat.
We understand that CPF Board has also been in touch with her on her requests to use her CPF funds for the flat purchase.
We will continue to assist Madam Goh with suitable housing options that would meet her needs.
