We thank Mohamad Nurhafiz Mohd Noor for his letter (July 6) and agree that there should be different ways of making the online space safer.
HardwareZone Forums has a forum content policy in place to guide its members and govern discussion boundaries.
The infraction point system is only one of many ways that HardwareZone Forums enforces its rules.
Other enforcement methods include what the writer mentioned as escalating penalties, such as asking the forum member to stop, removal of content and privileges or account restrictions (such as a reply ban), and a temporary or permanent ban of accounts based on the severity of the concern/harm.
The infraction point system is a progressive approach for less severe objectionable content.
Any imposition of the five most prevalent and serious online harms set out by the Online Safety Commission, such as intimate image abuse, will lead to the banning of the users’ accounts.
HardwareZone Forums continuously monitors and assesses the online space, as well as guidance from regulatory authorities, to refine its approach to meet the responsibilities of a platform provider and support healthy online discourse.
