Recently, as part of my school’s Values-in-Action programme, my classmates and I created Chinese New Year cards for National Kidney Foundation patients.
I was very happy to see the smiles of the dialysis centre patients when they received the handmade cards, and was glad to spread some festive joy to them during this period.
This experience helped me to empathise with kidney patients and I learnt to be grateful for my health. It also made me realise that we need to eat healthily and maintain an active lifestyle to avoid getting illnesses when we are older.
I hope there are more such activities in schools where we can show love and care for others in the community.
