We thank Mr Chong Ryh Huei for his letter “Leverage national systems for better graduate employment insights” (Sept 26). The Government is committed to supporting fresh graduates in their job search, especially in view of ongoing uncertainty in the job market.
In line with Mr Chong’s suggestion, one way in which we support graduate job seekers is indeed by harnessing national data systems to facilitate job matching.
Today, we make such data readily available to individuals and employers through the Careers & Skills Passport (CSP). The CSP enables individuals, including graduates, to take stock of their skills, training, and employment history from Government-verified data sources.
Verified employment records in CSP are based on employers’ CPF contributions, and include internships where such records are available. Graduates can enhance their personal profiles by adding on other career, learning and skill records into their CSP. They can also share their profiles and verified credentials with prospective employers easily through online job portals that the Government has partnered like Jobstreet and FastJobs.
We encourage job seekers and employers to take full advantage of the CSP to improve their search for jobs and talent.
Beyond the CSP, we have put in place various initiatives to help graduates start their careers well, including Workforce Singapore (WSG)’s Polaris by Volunteer Career Advisors (VCA), the Career Starter Pack, and the recently launched Graduate Industry Traineeships (GRIT) Programme. In addition, graduates can look for job opportunities on WSG’s MyCareersFuture portal as well as utilise its CareersFinder feature to explore potential career and upskilling options.
The Government will continue to empower our graduates to build strong career foundations and navigate the evolving economic landscape with confidence and resilience.
