We thank Mr Issac Lim for his feedback on student care centres (Two ways to keep student care centres accountable, Feb 17). The Ministry of Education (MOE) is working closely with relevant agencies including the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the Ministry of Manpower and the CPF Board to review the situation of contractual breaches by Little Professors Learning Centre, and to support affected students and their parents.
Currently, student care centre operators gather direct feedback from parents to understand their needs firsthand so that timely improvements can be made to their services. We recognise the value of parent feedback and will consider his suggestions on how to use such feedback better to identify and address any service issues early.
Regarding the unauthorised GIRO deductions by Little Professors Learning Centre, MOE had filed a police report, and had also advised affected parents to cancel their GIRO arrangements, and file a claim with the Small Claims Tribunals.
We understand the distress the Little Professors Learning Centre situation has caused affected families. MOE and our schools are committed to the continued well-being and care of our students during this time, while MOE sources for replacement operators.
