I was dismayed to find out about some fan interactions offered by popular cosplayer Rurusama at the Singapore Comic Con at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre from Dec 7 to 8.

These interactions included activities such as slapping fans’ faces or using them as footstools, and offering to show them her feet under a table, for fees ranging from $20 to $1,000.

These activities can be seen as degrading one’s dignity and contain suggestive elements of sadomasochism in a public setting that blur the lines between acceptable public conduct and private practices.

They also promote fetishism and voyeurism and can suggest to young women that exploiting their bodies for men’s satisfaction is an easy way to make money.

As a society, we need to safeguard future generations from the eroding of traditional values.

I would also like to ask the authorities about the guidelines for approving the content and activities at such conventions.
