Roll out eco-curriculum for all
South West District leaders have forged the right path towards achieving responsible and sustainable development through the enhanced eco-curriculum under the Green Schools @ South West programme “South West District to groom future generation of sustainability champions” (Jan 25).
An understanding of sustainable development is crucial to ensure that our future managers and leaders are equipped to respond to climate change, and embed climate solutions in all business functions and processes. Could a similar curriculum be rolled out across Singapore?

Set limit on cost of regular maid check-ups
The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) requires every employer of a migrant domestic worker to send her for a medical examination every six months. But little attention seems to be paid to how much private clinics charge for this service.
In November, one clinic charged my wife $25 for this service. Just two months later, my uncle was charged $48 by a different clinic for this same service.
MOM should set a limit on the amount that clinics can charge for the medical examination, to prevent profiteering.

Women more than able to hold their own
I could not agree more with junior doctor Faye Ng Yu Ci’s article (Women as top guns, Jan 29). I have worked with and for women for the past 30 years, and have found them more than able to hold their own, knowledge-wise, in their fields. Most are also very caring and display empathy towards staff.
But I have noticed that many were afraid to speak their minds at networking sessions. When some did, they were quickly brushed aside by the men.
I have also always wondered why it is a woman who ushers a guest of honour up on stage at events. Surely we can get a man to perform this role?
