I was shocked to read about the apparent lack of vigilance on the part of MRT staff at Tuas West Road station who encountered an intoxicated woman at the exit gantry with two men who claimed that they met her on the train and were taking her home ( Man tried to rape drunk woman after she was allegedly raped by his friend under Tuas Viaduct
It was reported that when the victim struggled to tap out at the gantry, this attracted the station staff’s attention, but that was the extent of the interaction.
It was tragic that she was allegedly raped and sexually violated shortly after she exited the station with the two men. Could station staff have prevented the crime from happening by not allowing the two men to lead her out of the station and calling the police?
