I belong to the Merdeka generation and retired. Recently, I was interested in a seven-month course in holistic nutrition with a competency certification upon successful completion. My aim is to adopt holistic practices for my own well-being and to share this knowledge with others.
The course fee is $2,980, with a SkillsFuture subsidy of $1,000, and a further subsidy by NTUC of $500 upon completion of the course. This means participants still have to pay about $1,500 in cash.
Perhaps a higher subsidy could be considered for Merdeka and Pioneer generation learners, many of whom are retired and may find the out-of-pocket cost a barrier to lifelong learning.
