According to the Motor Neurone Disease Association Singapore, motor neurone disease (MND) affects up to 500 adults in Singapore at any one time.

The disease kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis. Every year, 30 to 50 new cases are diagnosed.

I was diagnosed with MND this year and prescribed Riluzole, a drug that does not cure MND but purportedly slows down its progression.

Recently, I came across a report about a breakthrough drug called Ellorarxine that shows potential in tackling the underlying cause of MND.

I read further that the drug is entering human trials. I wonder if the relevant authorities here can collaborate with the drug-maker for participation in the trials to potentially benefit MND patients here.
