We refer to the letter “Pedestrians need more protection at Bencoolen junction” (March 24). The safety of all road users is a key priority for the Land Transport Authority. Following any traffic incident, we work closely with the Traffic Police to conduct a thorough review of the location and assess if additional safety measures are needed.

Bencoolen Street is a one-way road that intersects with Middle Road. The junction was designed in accordance with prevailing traffic standards and incorporates features to support safer pedestrian crossing, such as red-amber-green arrows and pedestrian countdown timers.

Even as we continue to enhance our road infrastructure, creating safer roads remains a shared responsibility of all road users.
