Many Singaporeans travel overseas for work or vacations. But when they face sudden floods, earthquakes or other calamities, many may be caught unprepared.

Recent media reports highlight how a group of elderly tourists caught in the recent floods in Hat Yai, Thailand, panicked when faced with rapidly rising water.

Another family on vacation in Hokkaido recounted their panic during the recent earthquake.

There are also many instances of Singaporeans involved in road accidents overseas who face difficulties.
