Unlike the Central Provident Fund (CPF) and insurance plans that allow holders to nominate beneficiaries, there is no similar provision for bank accounts.

For many account holders, opening a joint account may not be a preferred option, as they would rather retain individual ownership and control over their finances.

A nomination feature would simplify matters by allowing account holders to designate beneficiaries for the funds upon their passing, similar to how CPF accounts and insurance plans operate. This could also reduce potential conflicts among family members during estate distribution, ensuring a smooth transfer of assets according to the account holder’s wishes.

Without such a feature, bank account holders may feel compelled to engage legal services for the distribution of their funds posthumously, which could be costly and burdensome.

I believe a nomination facility for bank accounts would benefit both account holders and their families.
