As a young person, this serves as a sobering reminder that online materials must always be consumed carefully and thoughtfully. When encountering extremist ideas from online sources, we should pause, and actively process what we are reading.

The swift response of the Internal Security Department is something we cannot take for granted. Everyone has a role to play in preventing similar incidents from occurring.

To parents out there, monitoring and supervision are key. It is crucial to be in check with your children’s internet usage. Parents can also affirm that their children are secure in their identity, ensuring their thoughts are rational and just. Educators can also continue building a safe space for students to be accountable for their personal growth and learning, inside and outside school.

As members of the public, we ought also to be aware of situations around us and be agile in responding.
