As a senior, I am glad to learn that the authorities are considering artificial intelligence to enhance the safety and well-being of seniors around their neighbourhoods (AI solution to make neighbourhoods safer for seniors among projects at new urban planning exhibition, June 3).

In addition, the authorities may want to take the opportunity to review the shared-bicycles return stations that are currently located right next to bus stops. I have often seen returned bicycles haphazardly or irresponsibly parked, overflowing right into the bus-stop area.

This poses tripping hazards to commuters who have to navigate the maze of bicycles. It is particularly dangerous to seniors during the dark of night. I have filed numerous letters to OneService: Contractors would come to collect the bicycles only for the mess to recur repeatedly without any lasting solution.

If the bicycle rental companies cannot enforce the requirement that their contractors conscientiously and regularly collect the bicycles, then the authorities ought to seriously consider moving such poorly sited return stations away from the vicinity of bus stops before any untoward incident happens. Let us bear in mind that a fall for a senior can be serious, if not fatal.
