I am often asked why there are so many incidents of abuse against security officers. My answer: Meritocracy. 

Meritocracy has been a longstanding organising principle and ethos of Singapore. We have undoubtedly benefited from a principle that rewards individuals for their achievements, obtained through their capabilities and hard work.
