I’ve been watching the dating app industry for years, and I’ve held my tongue on this for too long. The industry simply does not care about user safety.

Bumble recently retreated from its longstanding requirement that women send the first message to their matches – an element that was said to give them more control over their dating lives. Now male users, too, can initiate a conversation by responding to a prompt set by women.
