My son was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism when he was 20 months old. The consultant who revealed the diagnosis told my wife and me to “forget about the word ‘future’”, as far as my son was concerned.

However, since then, my beloved son has journeyed through a lengthy academic route, from kindergarten to Pathlight School to the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to polytechnic, to reach the final year of a diploma course.
