SINGAPORE - When Ms Frances Yeap and her husband were renovating their three-storey semi-detached house last year, she wanted some greenery in the basement level.

But as it was not practical to grow plants there because of the lack of sunlight, Ms Yeap, 37, came up with an alternative solution to green up the space: a tropical-inspired wallpaper with banana trees, monstera leaves and other green ferns.
