SINGAPORE - Popular Japanese discount store Don Quijote will be opening its second store in Singapore and South-east Asia in Tanjong Pagar on June 14.

The second Don Don Donki outlet will be located at 100AM shopping mall in Tras Street, near Tanjong Pagar MRT station.

Similar to its first store in Orchard Central, the new Don Don Donki outlet will cover two floors of the 100AM mall.

However, the outlet will focus on a "Japan Mobile Foods" retail concept, to offer a menu of food items for the busy crowd in the Central Business District, said Don Don Donki in a statement on Tuesday (June 5).

The store will also feature non-food items, including beauty and wellness products.

The brand is known for offering a wide variety of made- and designed-in-Japan products, including toilet paper and second-hand Rolex watches.

It has 368 stores in Japan, Hawaii and the United States. It aims to expand in South-east Asia, with Singapore as a regional headquarters for the business.

In November last year, company chairman Takao Yasuda told The Straits Times that it intends to have at least 10 stores in Singapore in the next four to five years.

The outlets in Singapore are named Don Don Donki because a Don Quijote restaurant already exists here in Dempsey Road.
