SINGAPORE - Local film-maker Jack Neo will soon be welcoming his first grandchild into the family. His only daughter revealed that she is three months pregnant.

Ms Ethel Neo, 26, told Chinese-language newspaper Lianhe Wanbao in an interview on Sunday (May 27) that her expected delivery date is Nov 11.

Ms Neo, a jewellery designer, said that when she first found out that she was pregnant, she burst into tears of joy.

"I told my husband the news three days later one evening after dinner. And when he learned that he was going to be a father, he was moved to tears too," she said.

In September 2016, she wed Mr Peter Lau in a ceremony at Bedok Methodist Church, and they held a 40-table wedding banquet at the St Regis in December that year.

The couple had dated for seven years.

Mr Neo confirmed with Wanbao that he will soon be a grandfather, adding that his only daughter has grown up in the blink of an eye. He also has three sons with his wife Irene.

"Some 20 years ago, my daughter had just arrived into this world. And now in a blink of an eye, she has gotten married and will soon be 'promoted' to a mother," he said.

He revealed that he had been filming in Taiwan for his latest movie Killer Not Stupid when his wife visited him bearing the good news.

In her interview, Ms Neo said that since her parents found out that she was pregnant, they have been sending photos and videos of babies to her via Whatsapp, and wishing her well.

She added that she rarely experienced morning sickness during the early stages of her pregnancy, and could sleep up to 16 hours a day "like a princess".

While Mr Neo is hoping for a granddaughter, Ms Neo said that she does not have a preference.

She told Wanbao that she hopes to eventually have three children , ideally two boys and a girl.
