In Pictures: The 70th Annual Tony Awards
The American Theatre Wing's Tony awards, held in New York on June 12, celebrated the best theatre talents on Broadway. Hosted by James Corden, the evening was shadowed by the reports of the biggest mass shooting in US history in Orlando, Florida. Corden paid tribute in his his opening speech to the victims: "Your tragedy is our tragedy. Theater is a place where every race, creed, sexuality, and gender is equal, embraced, and loved. Hate will never win.” Winners during the ceremony also gave moving tributes. The biggest winner of the evening was the hit hip hop musical Hamilton, which snagged 11 awards.
