SINGAPORE - Actress Florence Tan will be acting in her first Singapore TV drama in 12 years, when she stars in upcoming Channel 8 series Mind Matters.

According to reports, the 40-year-old Malaysian, who is currently based in Hong Kong, says that she turned down two China dramas in order to take on the local series, in which she will play a salesperson with bipolar disorder.

"It's nice to be home. I'm looking forward to working with old friends again," the actress was quoted as saying in a Channel 8 news report.

Tan, who was the female Star Search champion in 1997, is known for her roles in dramas such as The Return Of The Condor Heroes (1998) and Immortal Love (1997). She left the industry in 2006 after marrying a Taiwanese businessman, and started acting again in 2011, in China.

The actress, who has nine-year-old twin daughters, last starred in a Singapore TV series in the supernatural drama Zero To Hero (2005) and had a cameo in Joys Of Life (2012).
