NEW YORK (TCA/DPA) - The shocking, sudden death of Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce earlier this month (July 2019) was caused by "unexpected death in epilepsy," coroner officials have confirmed.

Officials made the final ruling on Tuesday (July 30) after a three-week investigation into why the 20-year-old actor best known for playing Cruella De Vil's teen son Carlos in the wildly popular "Descendants" franchise was found unresponsive in bed at his North Hollywood home July 6 and pronounced dead at the scene.

A full autopsy report obtained by the Daily News said a toxicology screening found only the seizure medication Levetiracetam in Boyce's system.

"On July 8, an autopsy was performed, and the cause and manner of death were deferred. After additional testing, the cause of death was determined to be sudden unexpected death in epilepsy," the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said in a statement.

"The manner of death was certified as natural," the statement said.

The full report said Boyce "was last known to be alive a little past midnight on 07/06/2019".

"Housemates were leaving later in the day when they decided to check on him. They found him supine in bed with his head and torso over the side," the report said.

The housemates called 911 and were instructed to pull Boyce off the bed and perform CPR, according to the report.

Paramedics rushed to the residence and declared his death at 2.35pm.

"There was no apparent trauma. Foul play is not suspected," the autopsy report said.

"The decedent developed non-traumatic epilepsy about three years ago.

Over the years, he had several major seizures, normally months apart," the report revealed.

Boyce's devastated family confirmed his death earlier this month in a statement that said he "passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated".
