Dance practitioner Bernice Lee has seen her monthly income drop by 20 per cent after a school cancelled the weekly two-hour co-curricular activity classes that she teaches, due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"I've put more energy into thinking about alternative sources of income," says Ms Lee, 33, who is concerned about potential safety nets for those in the gig economy.
