SINGAPORE – Mrs Tan – not her real name – blames her son’s encounter with drugs to his mixing with bad company.
Shawn – not his real name – was 17 when he tried cannabis. Now 24, he has stayed at two halfway houses and spent 22 months in jail for drug offences. Although he won awards for academic performance in secondary school and played in a sports team, he later dropped out of two polytechnics on account of his drug use.
