SINGAPORE – As Singapore gears up to celebrate its 60th birthday, hotels are rolling out staycation packages, tours and activities, and special freebies to mark the occasion.

A crowd favourite is the National Day Parade fireworks display, which is expected to start at around 8pm every Saturday between now and Aug 9.

This year’s parade will light up the sky with fireworks forming the number “60” in celebration of SG60 – a spectacle best viewed from Marina Bay Sands.

Hotels around Marina Bay and the Padang see a surge in demand for rooms with front-row views of the fireworks each year.

Wyndham Singapore Hotel, for example, is among the hotels situated nearest to the stage at the Padang. It completed a roughly year-long renovation of the property, including its rooms and public spaces such as the lobby, in February.

Its Bay View rooms for Aug 9 have been sold out since December 2024. Similarly, Grand Copthorne Waterfront hotel’s SG60 staycation package for stays from Aug 8 to 10 has been fully booked since June 20.

But with five weekends to go before National Day, you can still book a stay at these hotels, which are offering SG60 perks such as complimentary activities, unique collectibles and late check-out – along with fabulous views of the fireworks.
